Hoosier Weather NOW ~ a Chris McNew Presentation
May 4-5
I have some changes in the forecasts...and they aren't changes that will get me a round of applause. This was thought to be an overall drier opening to May. Then it became apparent that we were going to get in on Clipper like systems. Clippers no matter the season are usually moisture starved. Now it looks like at times there will be a Gulf connection...delivering more in the way of available moisture. WE SHOULD TURN DRIER in time. However in the zone forecast period, there are numerous chances for rain. Some days will offer more wet hours than dry, such as Election Day on Tuesday. Sadly, another one looks to be Sunday, Mothers Day. It still looks like the northern row or two of counties will see less rainfall than the rest of the state. I have boosted temperatures some. The last frost chance of the season looks to be this week. At this point, the northern zones and far east-central have the best shot at a light frost...especially in rural areas.
