Hoosier Weather NOW ~ a Chris McNew Presentation
June 17-18
I'm thankful that the severe weather on Wednesday wasn't worse than it was. I'm grateful that no lives were lost. Many people's prayers were answered that the severe weather wasn't worse and more widespread than it was. Wednesday was not a bust! What Wednesday ended up offering up was a more confined area of severe weather thanks to: the warm front not lifting as far north as models projected because the clouds and rain hung on longer than expected along and north of I-70. Had those two things not have happened, we would be talking (most likely) about tornado and/or wind damage in Marion and Boone and Hamilton and Madison Counties...and counties north of those. At this moment in time, I see no severe weather over the next 7 days! I do see rain and garden variety thunderstorms. I also don't see any 90's on a widespread basis in this forecast, and that is the theme that I identified in April as the theme for the summer....not a lot of excessive temperatures! It's summer (officially according to the calendar on Sunday) in Indiana. We will have very warm to hot days. We will have what I consider more than our share of humid days and nights! However, we will have enough rain over time to prevent temperatures soaring into the upper 90's/100's. In fact, we should probably end up below the normal of 90+ degree days this summer. Good news -- long term, I do still see a DRY, somewhat cooler and less humid pattern centered around July 4th. (July 2-8 or so) THAT should make for a great long holiday weekend!
